Hot Sellers: Work of Art

1 MIN READ

Young families and singles in San Diego are finding themselves in a real estate market that may soon resemble the expensive Bay area. Targeting these entry-level buyers, Brookfield Homes launched an attached contemporary home community listing in the high $100s to mid-$200s. And the crowds came running.

Miro at Scripps Ranch Villages combines low maintenance product with the amenities of a master planned community in smaller, more manageable sizes. Homes are 1,105 to 1,761 square feet with two levels and two or three bedrooms. The units are near shops, movie theaters, and walking paths to Miramar Lake. “We had mostly Gen-Xers who wanted a new twist, something more contemporary and attainable,” says Carlene Meads-Wilkie, Brookfield’s vice president of marketing. “Some of our own employees purchased homes also.” The average buyer profile was young singles in their 20s and 30s and some young couples. The opening drew 3,500 people. A lottery determined a priority list for 400 pre-qualified buyers.
