Best sales office—600 square feet and over

THAT’S A TRAILER? YOU’D CERTAINLY never know it if Cynthia Monaco didn’t admit it. Fortunately, she does, and with some sense of pride. Well, it’s actually a trailer with a second-story deck added on. The sales center for Seahaus in La Jolla, Calif., was across the street from the ocean-front luxury condominium project on the site of an old shopping center that had burned down. As a result, the sales center site had a retail zoning designation.

“I said, ‘Fine, we’ll be retail,’” Monaco says. “We’ll be the Seahaus Shop.” Monaco commissioned a line of shirts, hats, and even surfboards and set up a small display area.

The upstairs deck proved invaluable, Monaco says, giving prospective buyers an unobstructed view of the site. Meanwhile, downstairs, an interactive virtual tour plays, featuring a computer-generated model of each product line, actual views from the buildings, images of the lifestyle they’ll enjoy, and views of how the buildings will look as owners walk through the community.
