American Homes 4 Rent (NYSE: AMH), a provider of single-family homes for rent, on Thursday announced that the Board of Trustees has expanded to 11 members and appointed Matthew R. Zaist as an independent trustee, effective immediately. With Zaist’s appointment, the board includes seven independent trustees, three of whom have been appointed in the last year.
Zaist is the former CEO of William Lyon Homes, which was recently merged into Taylor Morrison Homes. He has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the industry, as well as significant operational, business development and transaction expertise.

Zaist joined William Lyon Homes in 2000 and served as its president and COO before becoming CEOr. William Lyon Homes and its subsidiaries designed, constructed, marketed and sold single-family homes in California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Texas. Zaist holds a B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a member of the executive committee for the University of Southern California’s Lusk Center for Real Estate.
