According to ZipRealty, Inc., (a residential real estate brokerage firm and marketing solutions provider) California is the place to be if you’re selling a home in 2014.

Using housing market data of 24 metro areas nationwide over the past year, and evenly weighing three housing metrics for each, ZipRealty compiled a list of the Top 10 Best Cities for Home Sellers in 2014. The full list reveals that the western region of the United States did much better compared to the rest of the country in 2013:

1. San Francisco Bay Area
2. Sacramento, Calif.
3. San Diego, Calif.
4. Las Vegas, Nev.
5. Orange County, Calif.
6. Los Angeles, Calif.
7. Dallas, Texas
8. Houston, Texas
9. Washington, DC/Northern Va.
10. Chicago, Ill.

The full breakdown of total housing inventory per-capita, median time spent on the market, and total increase of median sales prices for the top 3 metros in the can be seen below. To add a little bit more perspective, here are the same metrics for 2013 nationally, from the National Association of Realtors:

NATIONWIDE:
—An average of 6.6 homes were available per 1,000 people
—Over 2012, median home sales prices increased 11.5 percent on average
—Homes for sale stayed on the markets for an average of 35 days
