The construction industry has second-highest proportion of green jobs (6.8%), behind utilities (almost 12%). All industries average: just over 2%).
Largest subtrade group: mechanical equipment contractors, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC: 160k jobs.
Green jobs are also considered on an all-green or some-green basis, depending on whether the company gets all or some of its revenue from green building. Looking at it that way, in Nov 2011, over 2 million jobs were all- or some-green.
Carpenters comprise the largest number (149k), followed by electricians (139k), and plumbers (118k).
