This year, the EPA’s Energy Star Certified Homes program is celebrating 20 years of helping America’s builders construct energy-efficient homes. In the two decades since the program began, the numbers are impressive. With help from Energy Star American families and businesses have saved more than $360 billion on utility bills and prevented 2.5 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Nearly 1.6 million families across the country live in Energy Star homes. Production builders like Beazer Homes and KB Home have committed to the program, which aims for energy savings of at least 30% compared to a traditionally built home.

In celebration of the program’s anniversary, we’ve rounded up a sampling of Energy Star-certified projects that not only save energy but look good, too. Click through the slide show above for information about each home’s energy-saving products and technologies.
