Green building is nearly ubiquitous at IBS ’09, with several seminar programs and show homes touting all things eco through the four-day convention. But on Wed., Jan. 21, the NAHB will make a special effort to promote the industry’s ongoing sea change with opportunities for builders to engage in the association’s growing number of green programs. As it was christened at the 2008 Show, Green Day will highlight new earth-friendly programs, products, and services and celebrate the initiative’s impressive progress, which includes thousands of NAHB members achieving the Certified Green Professional (CGP) designation and even more homes being run through the gamut of the group’s rating and certification system. Green Day headquarters is a booth in the Grand Concourse of the Las Vegas Convention Center where attendees can get information about the National Green Building Program, CGP classes, the annual Green Building Awards, and the upcoming Green Building Conference, slated for May in Dallas. There’s also Green Day gear and a slate of featured speakers, not to mention educational programs listed under a specific “Green track for easier reference. In addition, a host of green-minded exhibitors will be dotting the show floor.
