ICC Releases New Building Safety Podcast

In an effort to raise more awareness about building safety, the ICC released a new podcast Wednesday focusing on building codes and safety.

ICC Pulse is a monthly podcast for those seeking a deeper understanding of the building safety industry. Each episode will feature interviews with leading industry experts discussing a wide range of topics including current events and new technologies.

In episode 1, Whitney Doll, the Code Council’s Director of Communications and podcast host, talks with Board of Directors President Jay Elbettar, P.E., CBO, LEED AP, CASp. Jay manages and directs the operation of the Mission Viejo Building Division through Charles Abbott Associates, including plan checks, inspections, counter operations and permit issuance. He was the recipient of the 2010 Gerald H. Jones Code Official of the Year Award. He is a registered professional engineer in seven states.

In the interview, he shares some of his experiences as a code official, current challenges faced by code officials, disaster preparedness and resiliency, and updates about various Code Council initiatives and plans for 2018.
