Registration is open for the 2018 International Code Council Annual Conference, Code Hearings and Expo, which will be held from October 21st-31st, 2018 in Richmond, Va. The event will offer educational sessions by world-renowned experts, networking opportunities, historic building tours, and the opportunity to influence the 2021 International Codes.
The conference’s keynote speaker is Matt Paxton, a hoarding expert featured on the television show Hoarders. Paxton will share his expertise on hoarding and its relationship to code compliance and fire prevention. This is particularly pertinent to the International Property Maintenance Code, which outlines requirements for minimum levels of safety and sanitation in existing structures.
The education programs cover the I-Codes, disaster response, leadership, and new technology, among other topics. Attendees can earn continuing education units at these courses. Participants can also attend the Building Safety & Design Expo, which includes additional education sessions and exhibitors.
The Public Comment Hearings for the 2021 I-codes currently in development will take place immediately after the ICC Annual Conference. Governmental Member Voting Representatives will vote on behalf of their jurisdictions on hundreds of proposed code changes at these hearings.
Early-bird savings are available to attendees who register before September 16th. More information about the event can be found at www.iccsafe.org/conference.
