Building professionals have almost reached the midway point in their quest this week to build 263 new homes with Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the United States. All told, more than 1,000 building industry professionals are helping accomplish the feat during Home Builders Blitz 2008.Together, all these builders, subcontractors, and tradespeople are completing houses from frame to finish to support Habitat’s home building efforts. BUILDER and Habitat have teamed up to report the blitz’s progress on a daily basis. This week, six of those professionals are contributing to Habitat’s online Builder’s Notebook at , providing a first-hand perspective of the work being done on their site. Plus, Kevin Campbell, Habitat’s director of Home Builders Blitz, will be posting reports as he travels across the country visiting various sites. You can access those posts every day through www.builderonline.com.
Recent entries tell of the coordination it has taken to get the houses dried-in and on pace to be completed by week’s end. At this point in the week, framers and deckers are continuing their work while electricians, plumbers, and painters get started alongside them.
Check here each day this week for new entries that describe the work being done, and how building professionals can get involved with Habitat for Humanity. Visitors can learn more about the Home Builders Blitz model – and how professionals can get involved with the Habitat movement. You can also find out where builders are currently participating.
