At Greenbuild 2010, Nov. 17-19, architects, builders, and other professionals involved in green building will be able to take advantage of a wide array of educational sessions, in addition to the numerous networking opportunities and products expo. Pre-conference educational courses will begin Nov. 15, and the conference will kick off on Nov. 17 with a keynote address by former U.S. Secretary of State and retired Gen. Colin L. Powell.

In addition to providing LEED workshops and courses, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has secured Continuing Education Unit approvals for many of its other educational programs from the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Building Owners and Managers Institute, CoreNet Global, the Construction Specifications Institute, the International Interior Design Association, the American Planning Association, and the Green Building Certification Institute.

Several off-site training events also will be offered, including sessions focusing on residential green building systems, historic preservation and sustainability, building deconstruction and materials reuse, and public housing and accessibility.

Greenbuild 2010 will play host to a variety of special-focus educational events, as well. On Nov. 16 and 17, the Affordable Housing Summit will provide myriad educational sessions and project charrettes for leaders in the green affordable housing segment. The Residential Summit on Nov. 18 will offer 15 sessions—including several master series programs—specifically developed for residential professionals covering topics such as building science, marketing, production homes, and multifamily construction.

Shaun Donovan, U.S. Secretary for Housing and Urban Development, and environmentalist and author Paul Hawken, CEO of OneSun Energy, will deliver the conference’s closing keynote addresses.
