BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (Inman News Features) Pulte Homes (NYSE: PHM) announced that Mark J. O’Brien officially took over Jan. 1 as president and CEO of the company. O’Brien succeeds Robert K. Burgess, whose previously announced retirement was effective Dec. 31. Company founder William J. O’Brien has held a number of positions during his 18-year tenure with Pulte Homes. He was named president in 1998 and has been COO since 1987 with day-to-day responsibility for the company’s domestic, active adult, international and mortgage operations. He also was instrumental in the company’s acquisition in July of active senior housing developer Del Webb Corp.

Pulte builds homes priced from less than $100,000 to more than $1 million and has operations in 44 markets across the United States, Argentina, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
