The NAHB and its construction industry partners are organizing a COVID-19 Vaccine Awareness Week in Construction from April 19 to 23, with the goal of encouraging construction professionals to receive a vaccine.
The event is organized in partnership with members of the Construction Industry Safety Coalition, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, which has reached out to the NAHB for help in meeting the CDC’s goal of getting every eligible American vaccinated against COVID-19.
NAHB is asking home builders to set aside time April 19 to share COVID-19 vaccine information with workers and trade contractors. Resources available for builders in English and Spanish include:
- A one-page CDC vaccine fact sheet;
- A “toolbox talk” guide sheet;
- A CDC poster to display on the jobsite; and
- COVID-19 vaccine information from the CDC, including safety and logistics.
Building professionals are encouraged to check with their local health departments to find out when they will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and how to register for an appointment to receive it. Essential workers in home construction and finance are a priority in Phase 1C, according to CDC recommendations, and anyone 16 and older will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination in all 50 states by April 19.
A free webinar is also available for members of CISC organizations, where experts from the NIOSH will discuss the importance of vaccinations in the construction industry.
