New for Summer: An Air-Conditioned Jacket

Perfect for construction workers, the Zippkool cooling jacket provides wearers with a constant cool breeze.

As summer sets in, construction sites across the country are beginning to heat up. A new product can help building pros and their contractors prepare for the heat, and it involves wearing more layers of clothing, not less.

Introduced earlier this month at the National Hardware Show, the Zippkool Cooling Jacket is equipped with battery-powered fans and vents that provide users with a constant cool breeze. Made of specially designed cotton fabric, the garment incorporates patented lightweight fans that allow up to 5 gallons of air to enter and circulate the jacket per second. This helps evaporate sweat, the firm says, providing a cool and comfortable feeling while lowering temperature around the wearer’s body. Lithium-ion batteries power the jacket up to 20 hours in a single charge.
