Koral and Gobuty Development Co, LLC, developer of Mirabella, a 55-plus active adult community in West Bradenton, Fla., has been recognized on the 2017 U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) “Power Builders” list.

To make this elite national list, LEED-certified homes must comprise over 90 percent of a builder’s portfolio. The USGBC applauded Koral and Gobuty for going beyond this standard, with 100 percent of its Mirabella homes achieving LEED Platinum certification.

All 95 existing Mirabella homes and the 65 yet to be built or sold have been designed according to the highest LEED standards of sustainability. They include energy-efficient insulation, appliances, windows, lighting, paint, and air conditioning. New and existing Mirabella home owners also have the option of a solar package that allows eligible villas to achieve net-zero energy.

“We have committed to ensuring that no detail is forgotten, as we strive for every home to be as environmentally conscious and energy efficient as possible,” developer Marshall Gobuty said. “By doing so, we’ve been awarded LEED certification as well as ENERGY STAR and HERS certifications.” Koral and Gobuty’s innovatively designed Mirabella community promotes an eco-conscious and active lifestyle for residents.

When Hurricane Irma struck, these sustainable homes also proved to be quite resilient. According to the developers, not a single Mirabella home was damaged by the storm.

Being honored on USGBC’s Power Builder list is a proud moment for Koral and Gobuty, and a “silver lining” in the wake of Hurricane Irma. But Gobuty explained, “even more rewarding was our homes’ ability to withstand the strong winds and rain of Hurricane Irma. That’s a testament to our hard work, design, and application of the principles that the USGBC has in place surrounding LEED.”
