Boston, Mass., architect and sometime-television host Stephen Chung is currently in development on a travel-based architecture show called Cool Spaces! that is being considered as a potential program for PBS. Chung’s show is one of many under consideration as part of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s (CPB) and PBS’ Diversity and Innovation Fund, which garnered more than 200 responses to a request for proposals. Along with the other 15 shows, Cool Spaces! was selected for panel review, which will determine the programs that will advance to piloting. After the pilots are reviewed, PBS will decide which to broadcast and which will receive production funding.
Chung’s 13-part series aims not just to explore examples of provocative, boundary-pushing public architecture, but to give viewers an intimate look into each building’s conception, creation, and human experience.
