2013 Remodeling Design Award Winners Announced

21 projects have been honored in this year's awards competition

REMODELING magazine announced today the winners of its 2013 Remodeling Design Awards competition. The one Best of the Year, eight Grand Award winners, and 12 Merit Award winners were chosen by a panel of five judges from a field of 257 projects entered by remodelers, architects, and other design professionals from across the country.

One by one over the next 21 days, we’ll reveal what each entry won and what honor it received. All winners also will be featured in the September issue of REMODELING.

The judges’ panel consisted of Tom Glass, Glass Construction, Washington, D.C.; Karman Hotchkiss, Meredith Corp., Des Moines, Iowa.; Charles Moore, Moore Architects, Alexandria, Va.; John Rusk, Rusk Renovations, New York; and Jane Treacy, Treacy & Eagleburger Architects, Washington, D.C. In general, the judges leaned toward projects that showed restraint and did not succumb to too many trendy styles. What held their attention were spaces that bridged old and new, traditional, transitional, and modern and award entry binders in which good architecture and design were supported by a clear and thorough presentation.

Now that the judges have had their say, which project do you like most? Make your opinion known by voting to give one of the entries a Readers’ Choice award. Look for details in late August.
