Dyna Builders was tasked with creating a new floating residence for homeowners on Seattle’s Lake Union tailored to modern living. Built atop a newly poured concrete float, the 2,892 square foot home features a clean, contemporary structure that seamlessly blends indoor-outdoor transitions. The float can support the home’s 150,000-pounds and provides long-term stability, buoyancy, and durability.

A white powder-coated steel staircase at the entryway provides sculptural presence and practical access for residents. The staircase leads up to a rooftop deck via an automated glass hatch that enhances ventilation and light throughout the home’s core. The interior design utilizes a Scandinavian-inspired material palette and layout.
Clear-stained oak cabinetry and floors create an organic feel while light, faux-concrete quarter countertops and indoor-outdoor furnishings prioritize durability. The design introduces unexpected moments through a vintage Halabala chair and corner fireplace wrapped in large-format porcelain tile.
Built-in shade pockets offer privacy while preserving openness and steel framing and floor-to-ceiling spans allow for generous ceiling heights despite strict city-imposed height limits. Mechanical systems and shade structures were integrated into the architecture, hidden in walls, or tucked above eye level to avoid visual clutter.
