Fiber cement siding manufacturer James Hardie announced the winner and finalists of the 2017 HardieDesign Contest at the AIA Conference last week in Orlando. Architect David Sharff of Medfield, Mass., earned the top prize for the James Ord Block project, which made use of James Hardie’s HardiePlank lap siding with ColorPlus technology.
An internal panel selected five finalists from the program’s 170 entries based on the projects’ beauty and use of James Hardie fiber cement siding, and architects and trade professionals voted among the finalists on JamesHardiePros.com to determine the grand prize winner.
The contest’s four finalists are:
Saint Polycarp Village, Phase 3 by Davis Square Architects of Somerville, Mass.
Long Beach & 21st by The Architects Collective of Inglewood, Calif.
The Brooklyn Riverside by Dwell Design Studio, Alpharetta, Ga.
Ray Apartments by Baylis Architects, Bellevue, Wash.

As architect of the top project, David Sharff Architect, P.C. will receive a grand prize package valued at over $25,000, which includes a video shoot and a full-page ad in Dwell.
