Lake Minnetonka Boathouse

Orono, Minn.

1 MIN READ

Faced with zoning restrictions that prohibited the removal or expansion of an existing boathouse, Albertsson Hansen Architecture remodeled the structure in the spirit of an English cottage. The firm breathed new life into the building with wood roof shingles and replacement windows and doors. Refurbished in a traditional style but with contemporary Scandinavian overtones, the building retains its existing footprint, although the architects managed to add a half bath, kitchenette, and wood fireplace. A teak deck and a garden offer outdoor living spaces.
