Organized by the American Lighting Association, the Consortium for Energy Efficiency, and the Underwriters Laboratory, the Lighting for Tomorrow competition celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. With 124 entries—the highest number to date—the jury selected just 18 products for recognition. Launched in 2002, the awards program was created to “stimulate the market for attractive, energy-efficient residential lighting fixtures that use a fraction of the electricity of standard incandescent fixtures.”
The competition now completely focuses on LED technology, with all entries required to use LED bulbs and receptacles. Winners, honorable mentions, and one special recognition designation were given in three categories and can be viewed in the accompanying slideshow.
All awardees will be highlighted in an awards booklet and promoted by competition organizers throughout the coming year.
