“Use of glass is rarely executed as well as this,” said the jury of this compact yet luxurious master bath. The judges praised the room’s connection to the outdoors via framing of the trees and landscape in the windows. Step into the shower, and a strategically positioned corner window allows views over Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean. A narrow, floor-to-ceiling window gives views from the tub, and a large glass mirror over the vanity brings the canyon inside. Step out of an opaque glass door, and you’ll find yourself on a second-story courtyard, complete with an outdoor shower (the homeowner is a surfer, so this is the perfect place for showering off after riding waves.) Pocket doors conceal the commode and separate the bedroom from the bath. “All the elements, windows, and fixtures, are in proportion, like interlocking pieces—it’s a dynamic space, especially for such a small room,” concluded the jury.
