Merit Award: Birkdale Village

Huntersville, N.C.

1 MIN READ

What sets Birkdale Village apart from many other mixed-use communities is that the office, retail, and residential blend is truly all mixed up. At this 52-acre suburban outpost, 320 residential units with a choice of 45 floor plans are stacked right on top of 360,000 square feet of retail and office space.

“We’d never taken on such an integrated project like this,” says David Ravin, vice president of Crosland Contracting, which developed Birkdale in partnership with Pappas Properties. “It was a huge, $90 million learning curve that turned out to be very successful, but very demanding.”
