The National Association of Home Builders honored its twelve Educators and Designees of the Year during an awards ceremony held Monday at the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla. These recipients were recognized for their excellence in teaching NAHB courses, as well as their performance as NAHB educational designation holders.
The Educators and Designees of the Year were awarded across twelve categories:
- The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) of the Year is Thomas W, Ashley, Jr., owner of Expand Inc., a remodeling firm in Louisiana.
- The Certified Graduate Associate (CGA) of the Year is Diane Goté, founder and principal of Design Works Inc., an interior design firm in New Jersey.
- The Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) of the Year is Kenneth R. Adams, Jr, owner and president of Integrity Builders in Louisiana, and Louisiana Home Builders Association board member.
- The Certified Green Professional (CGP) of the Year is Sean D. Sulllivan, owner of Living Stone Construction Inc. in Asheville, N.C.
- The Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) of the Year is Scott Sevon, co-founder of MAW Chicago, a renovation firm.
- The Graduate Master Builder (GMB) of the Year is Tony Foust, chief executive of DaVinci Homes in Oklahoma City and member of the NAHB Board of Directors.
- The Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) of the Year is Sharon Harper Ivey, vice president for compliance for Concord Management in Maitland, Fla.
- The Master in Residential Marketing (MIRM) of the Year is Meredith Oliver, founder of Meredith Communications in Raleigh, N.C.
- The Builder/Remodeler Educator of the Year is Tom Stephani, owner of Custom Construction Concepts Inc. in the Chicago area.
- The CAPS Educator of the Year is Curt Kiriu, owner, CK Independent Living Builders, Mililani, Hawaii.
- The Certified Green Building Educator of the Year is John Barrows, founder of P3 Builder Group Inc. in Long Island, NY.
- The Sales and Marketing/Institute of Residential Marketing Educator of the Year is Chuck Miller, president and CEO of Chuck Miller Construction Inc. in Boise, Idaho.
“These home building industry professionals definitely ‘walk the walk,'” said 2016 NAHB Education Chair William L. Shaw, Jr., a Houston remodeler and NAHB instructor. “These leaders don’t just talk about the importance of education. They also work to stay current and even ahead of industry trends so they can set an example for the home builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who make up our great Federation.”
