Residential Natatorium

Princeton, N.J.

1 MIN READ

HOW DO YOU DESIGN AN outbuilding that doesn’t clash with, or upstage, the house? In the case of this Princeton, N.J., natatorium, a building that houses an indoor swimming pool, the answer was to keep the style consistent with the classical architecture of the 2 ½-story, Georgian-style main residence. Low-slung and elegant, the 3,300-square-foot brick structure was sited to allow maximum use of the existing side yard and designed to blend into the landscape as though it had always been there. In addition to the 16-by-40-foot pool, the structure houses an exercise room, a full bathroom, a laundry facility, and a kitchenette.
