The vanity-as-divider-wall concept came in handy in this spatially challenged bathroom makeover inside a historic 1850s brick row home in the nation’s capital. Sharing a small space, the bathroom and dressing area are separated by a freestanding wall with a dresser on one side and vanity sink on the other. For cohesiveness, the curved wall is clad in mosaic tile to match the nearby shower. “The juniper slab vanity tops and cherry wood cabinetry add some male gravitas,” notes architect Stephen Vanze. White limestone floors unify the space and keep it from feeling too dark.
