Century Building and Bike Center

Pittsburgh

1 MIN READ

The historic Century Building, built to house offices in Pittsburgh’s cultural district at the beginning of the last century, was born anew in this one. The first floor remains a restaurant, and floors two and three continue as office space, but the other nine floors have been converted to mixed-income apartments.

Interest in leasing in the LEED Gold–certified building has been brisk from both those seeking affordable housing and those willing to pay market rate. And it has attracted residents at a variety of life stages, from young workers and students to retirees and residents with disabilities.

As part of the building’s restoration, two recycled shipping containers were repurposed into a bike center on an easement beside the building where residents can store their bicycles securely year round.
