Chicago Architecture Center Debuts in August

1 MIN READ

ARCHITECT‘s Sara Johnson reports that when the Chicago Architecture Foundation announced in September that it was packing up and moving to a new spot, it noted at the time that it planned to reopen in the new Chicago Architecture Center this summer.

The foundation recently named a date for that opening, Aug. 31, squeezing in just as summer sunsets for Labor Day weekend. (Alright, technically the last day of summer is Sept. 22.) The Chicago Architecture Center will occupy part of a Ludwig Mies van der Rohe–designed building on the riverfront, and local firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture is designing the space. The foundation is also renaming itself the Chicago Architecture Center to coincide with the opening.
