Design Details: Vent Hoods

With the ongoing demand for high-powered cooktops, an efficient kitchen vent is essential. The hood that conceals it, on the other hand, can be a work of art.

Restaurant-style ranges are still a popular request when it comes time to outfit the kitchen. Cooktops worthy of professional kitchens—complete with wok burners that rival the flames of hell—aren’t going away any time soon. You know the drill, and you’ve probably even spent more than your share of time explaining CFMs to clients. All of which is to say that an efficient vent remains more essential than ever. But a vent also presents a design opportunity, because the hood that conceals it can be as beautiful as the blower is utilitarian.
