MariSol Malibu

A coastal paradise makes room for people and wildlife.

2 MIN READ

This glorious spot isn’t just for its homeowners. The developer studied the indigenous landscape for years prior to the construction of its first home at MariSol, a community that eventually will comprise 17 custom homes set amid 80 acres of coastal bluff. The botanical garden that surrounds each homesite is a certified Monarch butterfly way station containing over 120 native species and more than 50,000 plants.

But as far as human habitats go, this one is pretty spectacular. Blessed with panoramic ocean views, the first showcase home offers nearly 10,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor living space featuring fine finishes such as Brazilian slate roof tiles, French limestone floors, and rift-sawn oak ceilings and floors. Its communal areas include a 60-foot-wide great room with 14-foot-high ceilings, a fully equipped wet bar, an open chef’s kitchen, a breakfast room, a refrigerated wine cellar, a gym, a theater, and an office, plus an infinity-edge lap pool, three patios, a barbecue, and an outdoor dining pavilion. A water feature made of rock quarried on site is set in a fern and oak garden, and the property enjoys an ironwood deck on a 4,000-square-foot bluff-top “private beach.” The cobblestone driveway is hand hewn from native rock and includes on-site parking for 10 cars.
