Social Media Hit Gets an Open Kitchen
This attractive cottage takes an existing design and makes a key change: opening up the kitchen. Now this space boasts an island with a snack bar and a clear sightline to the great room. The master suite and laundry room have been expanded a bit, and the garage widened also. Apart from that, the layout remains largely the same – and both plans continue to rack up social media shares. Designed by Visbeen Architects, this graceful home is an update of this still-pretty-new Low Country design. What’s changed? The garage is now connected to the home (the first version featured a breezeway), making it better suited to building in areas where an enclosed transition between spaces is wanted. Both homes include elevators to the guest apartment above the garage, which can become a great private space for multi-generational living. Other highlights: impressive storage and organizational spaces in the mudroom, excellent sightlines throughout the open living area, and a flexible sitting room in the master suite.
