Are French country house plans having a moment?
Maybe it’s a little early. The big story of Q2 house plan sales is barndominium gaining even more market share with 12% of sales for Houseplans.com and its sister sites, below only farmhouse.
But lately there’s been a steady influx of new plans showing off characteristic French country curb appeal – think stucco, stone, and swoopy rooflines. Unlike more dated designs, though, these generally showcase a degree of streamlining and a relaxed modern sensibility.
Some are complex. Others skew more contemporary.
Here’s one that’s somewhat in between. Note the metal roof accents, the graceful entryway, and the discreet side-facing garage (well, maybe not so discreet with the windows providing glimpses of what’s inside, but they sure look cool).

Meanwhile, the back of the home boasts special outdoor living with a vaulted porch that connects to the great room. The main suite also opens outside.

Now let’s look at the layout. This home really cares about storage. A mudroom, walk-in pantry, separate pocket office, and spacious study meet the needs of everyday living.
Meanwhile, the main suite treats homeowners to a spa-like bathroom with dual vanities. Check out the spacious closet.

Upstairs, family members or guests will appreciate the double sinks in the hall bath. Two of the bedrooms boast vaulted ceilings. Need space for homework? There’s the loft.
