Lately it feels like we’ve been seeing quite a few sleek, chic cabin plans, and some of them are selling. Is mountain design having a moment? Or is it just summer? Maybe a little of both.
Today’s mountain house plans come in a variety of styles, with many of them leaning quite modern. Look for elements like shed roofs, plenty of stone (we’re in the mountains, after all), and abundant windows.
Here’s a new layout that does it nicely.

On the front, a two-car detached garage offers parking. Note the sleek metal roof and interesting blend of siding materials.

If homeowners want to keep it simple, they can just finish the main floor and leave the basement for later. A suite opens to that spacious rear porch and offers a five-piece bathroom, a large walk-in closet, and direct access to the laundry room.
Also, look at the super-open, ultra-simple layout of the main gathering areas. It feels right for vacation.

How about some more space for family and friends? Take a look at the lower level. A refreshment bar with an island opens to the entertainment area. For those who work out on vacation, the gym is ready.
Two-bedroom suites sit on opposite sides of the home, so grown-ups needn’t share a bathroom.
