Entry way for 55-plus

Let’s face it: No one wants to enter their home through a gauntlet of dirty clothes, boots, coats, junk mail, and more. That’s why the mudroom (or owner’s entry, as we like to call it) has become an important factor in home design. No longer the chaotic catch-all, design of the owner’s entry must include creative storage, products for easy and effective organization and, of course, be aesthetically pleasing.

Think of function first. Will the homeowner need a space to sit to put on gardening shoes, store dog leashes, umbrellas, shoes, hats, cleaning products, and more? If yes, then create plenty of storage options—preferably covered or contained— that address these needs. And don’t forget, the prospective buyer is envisioning their own entry, so make the design reflect the rest of the home and have it be a fabulous first impression.
