Transitional Design Captures the Essence of Consumer Demand

Bassenian Lagoni shares key elements of design needed for today’s home buyer.

Just as process and technology evolve, so does design. And, according to research from the 2016 BUILDER concept homes on buyer preferences, many are looking for a new transitional design that captures warm, comfortable elements of past architecture and combines them with practical, simple modern features. Transitional looks back but also looks forward.

Steve Dewan, senior principal at Bassenian Lagoni, the architect on the project, recently described the growing trend as an evolution of residential architecture that is changing the Euro-stylized approach to home design to a new aesthetic that embraces a historic reference in a modern way.

Transitional by design looks back but also looks forward, becoming much more purposeful. Dewan’s colleague, Hans Anderle, vice president at Bassenian Lagoni, speaks about the transitional design features of the BUILDER concept home, built by Pardee Homes, and how the features appeal to millennial buyers.

Millennials don’t want what has been done in the past, Dewan points out. Learning about millennials and their demands led to this concept project, which has since been adopted as a popular floor plan in additional Pardee communities. These purposeful designs can continue to evolve to meet buyer demands.
