Smart home connections are an ever-expanding trend in home appliances, and a growing number of manufacturers are releasing new smart-connected devices or adding new functions to old offerings. REMODELING’s Marisa Méndez has assembled a list of some of the newest connected home devices on the market. Among the highlights are:
- The Whirlpool Smart All-In-One Care Washer and Dryer, pictured right, which offers laundry cycle notifications through the Whirlpool smartphone app and compatibility with Amazon Alexa,
- Yale’s Next x Yale Lock, which can be used to generate home entry passcodes for guests and to disable the Nest Secure alarm system,
- The Streamlabs Smart Home Water Monitor, which uses ultrasonic technology to measure flow data and communicate it to home owners,
- The Ply Gem MaxView patio door, which may be opened and closed via smart device input.
Whether you love or hate the idea of a Jetson-like abode, connected devices are here to stay. Manufacturers are jumping on this movement and creating smart products for almost every area of the home: living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room. In addition, many of these devices are compatible with hubs such as Amazon’s Alexa, Google Home, and the Apple Home Kit.
