A Utah home is drawing big attention for its little numbers. The Zero Home outside of Salt Lake City in Herriman, Utah, is a net-zero smart home that has a HERS rating of zero and it is the first home to certified as net zero in Climate Zone 5. The production home also received U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Challenge Home certification, is Energy Star certified, and is priced at $350,000 and up.

The home, designed by KTGY Group Architecture + Planning and part of Garbett Home’s Bellasol community, is priced based on price per square foot of other homes in the area. Purchase prices begin at $350,000, and four floor plants that feature three to five bedrooms, 2.5 or 3.5 bathrooms, and a four car garage are available. The garage may also include a charging station for an electric vehicle. The Bellasol community is located in the 2,500-acres master-planned Rosecrest community in Herriman. Garbett Homes currently has 17 lots in Rosecrest with an option on 15 more.

The Zero Home is designed to be self-sufficient with a 10.29kW photovoltaic system that is anticipated to generate enough energy to offset most or all of the homeowners’ utility bills, according to KTGY, Garbett Homes, and Vivint. It is equipped with smart home technology from Vivint as the home was developed under a partnership between Vivint and Garbett Homes.
