The program, also called BxW NYC, accepted applications from Aug. 1 until Oct. 31 and received more than 350 nominations for unique sites in the city in categories including transportation, commercial and cultural.
A jury of industry leaders selected made selections from the nominations.
Each of the 100 structures will be celebrated with a formal ceremony. Additionally, an exhibit in honor of the women who designed them will be on display at the Center for Architecture in March to celebrate Women’s History Month. A walking tour will also start in 2015 in addition to panel discussions and events at some of the winning sites throughout the winter.
Seven residential projects were selected as winners in the competition. Audrey Matlock, principal at Audrey Matlock Architects took home two awards, including for outstanding mixed-use development. Susan Rodriguez of Ennead Architects was also honored for mixed-use.
Deborah Berke of Deborah Berke Partners received both commercial and residential awards, while Annabelle Selldorf of Annabelle Seldorf Architects took home both civic and residential awards. Winka Dubbeldam of ARCHI-TECTONICS, Josephine Wright Chapman, and Beverly Loraine Greene of MetLife each received awards in the residential category.
The program is being funded through grants from the New York Building Foundation and the New York Council for the Humanities. A full list of winners can be found on the Beverly Wills Architecture Foundation website
