Seniors for Centex Centex is expanding its product offering in the Houston area, bringing senior housing and urban townhomes products into the mix. The Dallas-based builder expects to release its senior product, known as Freedom Living, by the end of the year. Dubbed CityHomes, the urban townhome line will follow.

JTS Communities Expands Vision Undaunted by the shifting new-home market in Sacramento, Calif., JTS Communities is digging further into the local development scene. The company recently expanded its home building business repertoire to include land development. When the market stabilizes, the company expects it will be more competitive against larger companies, such as Lennar Corp., because it will have cheaper access to land. JTC currently controls roughly 3,100 acres in the region, which can accommodate more than 8,000 homes.
Eastwood Homes Grows While a slowing sales environment has some builders pulling back on the throttle, others such as Eastwood Homes are seeing opportunities to gain market share. By the close of 2006, the Charlotte, N.C.–based builder plans to start five additional communities in the North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad area, a region including the cities of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point. The new subdivisions will add more than 675 houses to the area.
