The Rilington Group is almost ready to go vertical on its newest development Domani, in Palm Desert, in California’s Coachella Valley. The site’s grading and infrastructure development began in December, and model home and clubhouse construction are scheduled to begin next month. All five new home models will be open for tours by November 2017.

The gated, age-restricted 55+ community will contain 202 single-family homes priced from the high $200,000s. The Early California-styled homes are available in five floor plans, ranging in size from 1,586 to 1,893 square feet in size. All homes feature granite countertops, maple cabinets, and courtyards and backyard spaces. The community’s centerpiece will be its recreation center, which will feature a landscaped pool, bocce ball and pickleball courts, a fitness center, and a nature trail.

According to MarketWatch’s Vic Cooper, there is a large and growing demand pool for 55+ homes in the Coachella Valley. “It is one of the primary retirement destinations for Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego Counties. Then add in the secondary markets with buyers from the Pacific Northwest and you have strong demand,” Cooper says. “Domani’s key central valley location priced under the $350,000 range for the active adult fills a void.”

“From my perspective as a long time builder, we are offering the right product in the right location at the right price point – and that is exciting for me,” says Mickie Riley, Rilington’s president and founder. “We feel that a community with 202 homes is a nice size and fills a market niche. Our active buyers ready for their next stage of fun can live in an affordable, beautifully designed, high quality home with multiple amenities – without being in a large master planned community with thousands of units.”
