Bradenton, Florida-based Pearl Homes has broken ground at Hunters Point, a new community of 86 solar-powered and eco-friendly single-family homes in Cortez, Florida.

Pearl Homes aims for NetZero Plus certification in its new-home developments in Florida and California, a process that includes achieving LEED Platinum, the highest LEED ranking given by the U.S. Green Building Council. The homes’ eco-friendly and sustainable features are enabled through the Pearl Homes ECOSystem, a network of tech and sustainability suppliers and contributors. By working cooperatively with its ECOSystem partners, Pearl Homes aims to reduce the total cost of ownership for buyers, as well as reduce the home’s carbon footprint, according to the builder.

Each home includes a solar power system managed and stored through the sonnen ecoLinx system, which provides backup power, energy management tools, and stored solar access for homeowners. The system’s Virtual Power Plant platform allows the Florida Power & Light electrical utility to manage the community’s reserve power and provide grid services.

Additional eco-friendly features include WaterSense certified plumbing and fixtures, Energy Star-rated appliances, and Google Nest thermostat systems.

Seventy percent of the homes at Hunters Point have already been sold through all-virtual sales.
