Smart Growth

The EPA awarded a total of $400,000 in grants to five communities to integrate smart-growth concepts into their local redevelopment efforts. The group, selected from 35 applicants, comprises Allegan, Mich.; Toledo, Ohio; Lancaster County, Pa.; Emeryville, Calif.; and the Downriver Community Conference, Southgate, Mich. All the projects apply smart-growth principles and link brownfield redevelopment with open space preservation.
