Huntsville, Alabama–based Davidson Homes—ranked No. 93 on the 2021 Builder 100—announced it has expanded its operations into Texas and will begin building its first homes in Houston. The builder has secured lots in several communities for first-time and move-up buyers and plans to begin building by July.
Texas is the fourth state the company has entered during the past four years. Founded in 2009, the builder currently owns or controls more than 8,000 lots in 62 communities in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
“Texas is an important strategic growth market that will allow us to build on the incredibly strong foundation we have established,” says Adam Davidson, founder, president, and CEO of Davidson Homes. “Texas and Houston have been on our radar for a while, but we needed the right person on our team.”
As a result, Davidson Homes has appointed veteran home builder Jim Rorison as division president to lead the company’s operations in Houston. Rorison has 35 years of building and finance experience, including two decades working in the local market. Rorison will report to Greg Duriez, chief operating officer for Davidson Homes.

Before joining Davidson, Rorison was president of a local home builder based in Houston. During his career, he has been responsible for building, leading, and guiding home building teams and overseeing the development of communities in multiple markets in the U.S. He has led successful teams in both Fortune 500 organizations, as well as privately owned businesses.
