Ivan Madrigal, CEO of Builder’s Choice in Houston, has created Purpose First, a holding company with a mission.
The company said Wednesday that the goal of Purpose First is to acquire companies in the building industry that are committed to a larger purpose beyond rapid growth and rising profits. These building companies will donate a percentage of profits, raw materials, and skilled labor to non-profits that serve the greatest needs in their respective communities.
With Madrigal’s creation of Purpose First came the joint venture partnership with two more companies in the building industry – TMD Windows & Doors and S&S Craftsmen – unifying four distinct companies. Made possible with the assistance of Orlando’s Assurance Mezzanine lending, the companies will work together to share knowledge, leverage market share, and increase social impact in their respective markets.
Builder’s Choice Cabinets and Builder’s Choice Windows, headquartered in Houston, will now expand their offerings. In addition to cabinetry and windows, the company will also service residential developers and builders with countertops, custom millwork, custom casework, and custom moldings manufactured by S&S Craftsmen. Likewise, TMD Windows & Doors, and S&S Craftsmen, both based in Tampa, FL, will now offer cabinetry to their clientele.
As both groups look to aggressively expand their presence in their respective marketplaces, they will also be looking to increase their roles as social entrepreneurs.
