Empire Lakes Holding Company, part of The Lewis Group of Companies, has purchased the 160-acre Empire Lakes Golf Course in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. from PMRG, a commercial real estate firm.

The Lewis Group of Companies plans to repurpose the property into a mixed use community with as many as 3,450 residential units and 220,000 square feet of commercial uses.

Ken Arimitsu, PMRG’s senior vice President of golf course and land sales, represented the seller, Park Global Inc. The buyer was represented by Gary Arendts of Chaparral Land Company.

“With the current land shortage in Southern California, under-performing golf courses provide developers an opportunity to secure a large amount of land needed for a large-scale development. This is a great opportunity to satisfy a housing need in a thriving community” said Ken Arimitsu in a press release.

Empire Lakes Golf Course is ideally located just minutes from the I-15 & I -10 freeways and the Rancho Cucamonga Metrolink station, providing access to neighboring communities and employment centers.
