Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (LP) (NYSE:LPX) announced today its commitment of $250,000 to support Hurricane Florence disaster relief efforts in North Carolina.

The leading manufacturer of quality engineered wood building materials will contribute $125,000 to the American Red Cross and $125,000 to North Carolina Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund. In addition, LP will match employee contributions to hurricane relief.

LP is also working with appropriate organizations to donate LP building products for rebuilding efforts in areas affected by Hurricane Florence.

LP employs 700 people at its three North Carolina mills, including 149 at its engineered wood products plant in Wilmington, N.C., near where the hurricane made landfall.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by this storm, especially our own employees,” LP CEO Brad Southern said.

“The devastation to lives and property caused by Hurricane Florence is catastrophic and we trust that our contributions will help provide some measure of immediate relief, as well as assist during the rebuilding process,” Southern said.

Besides matching employee donations, LP sponsors the LP Cares Fund through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to aid LP employees in the United States and Canada affected by natural disasters or other emergencies.
