Two of the country’s largest home builders–Brookfield Residential and CalAtlantic Homes–recently broke ground on a new master-planned community in Dublin, Calif.

The 189-acre Boulevard project will feature up to 1,995 single and multifamily homes with community amenities including dynamic social spaces, pocket parks, and more, according to Tom Burrill, CalAtlantic Bay Area division president. It will be built on the former site of the U.S. Army Reserve’s Camp Parks military base.

“Boulevard has the genuineness of an urban notion layered with the intimacy of a neighborhood experience: transportation accessibility, social spaces, connectivity, residential diversity and innovative programming,” he says. “This master-planned community is sure to set the bar for future Northern California developments.”

With a planned opening in 2017, the first phase of the contemporary-style community includes condos, townhomes, and single-family detached homes featuring bold architecture with expansive windows and abundant balcony spaces to encourage indoor-outdoor living. The community on the former site of the Army’s Camp Parks was conceived with active buyers in mind, says John Ryan, Bay Area president for Brookfield Residential.

“Our vision is to develop an energetic, authentic community that is buzzing and full of life,” says Ryan. “Boulevard is primed to welcome young professionals, tech executives, couples, and growing families alike.”

In addition to themed pocket parks, a nearby regional park, and a multi-use trail system, Boulevard is within walking distance to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station, appealing buyers for whom easy access to public transportation is important.
