Why It Worked: Mother Nature might just be the biggest factor in this project’s success. One-third of the master planned community’s 717 acres has been set aside for open space and habitat conservation. Sycamore Creek also backs up to the 460,000-acre Cleveland National Forest.

  • The Summit, one of six neighborhoods that have been open since the spring of 2004, is the best seller in this first phase. Proximity to the state-of-the-art swim club, which features three pools and an interactive water play area, is one reason.
  • Builder-friendly architectural guidelines recall styles reminiscent of early California living.

  • Four diverse floor plans offer plenty of choices: three to seven bedrooms; two-and-a-half to four-and-a-half bathrooms; two- and three-car garages; and courtyard and loft options.
  • The Spanish elevation, Plan 2, is the most popular and features a courtyard entry with an office option at the front of the home, plus a downstairs bedroom with a full bath. A large secondary bedroom upstairs gives the feeling of multiple master bedrooms.
