One of the goals for Charles Schetter, Atlanta-based Smith Douglas Homes’ CEO, is to follow the example of private builders like David Weekley, Shea, and Ashton Woods and access the 8- to 10-year “multi-cycle” money in the public debt market.

“The mission is to get big enough to ensure a solid financial foundation,” says Schetter, who builds in Greater Atlanta Area, Raleigh, North Carolina and Birmingham, Alabama .

This week Schetter took another step in that direction by adding Jeff Jackson, President and Chief Operation Officer at PGT, Industries, the nation’s leading manufacturer and supplier of residential impact-resistant windows and doors, to its board of directors.

“Mr. Jackson brings a wealth of executive management experience from important industries which will add a valuable perspective to our Board of Directors,” Schetter said in a press release. “We appreciate his willingness to serve as a director and look forward to benefitting from his judgment and counsel.”

“I am honored to be joining Smith Douglas Homes’ Board of Directors, stated Mr. Jackson. “Smith Douglas Homes has an enviable reputation for building award-winning homes throughout the Southeast and I look forward to working with the board and the Company.”

Jackson joined PGT in November 2005 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. The following year, he helped lead the Company’s IPO, and was later named Executive Vice President. In 2014, Mr. Jackson was named President and Chief Operating Officer with responsibilities of overseeing the Company’s strategic plan, as well as all aspects of operations. In 2016, Mr. Jackson was appointed Director to the PGTI Board of Directors. Prior to joining PGT, he served in various Executive Management roles, including Division Chief Financial Officer, Vice President Corporate Controller, and Senior Vice President of Operations.

Jackson earned a B.B.A. from the University of West Georgia and is a Certified Public Accountant in both Georgia and California.
