Lennar Corp., Miami (NYSE: LEN and LEN.B) late Tuesday pledged at least $1 million to the United Way of Greater Houston Flood Relief Fund to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.
The Lennar Foundation will also will match contributions dollar-for-dollar made by its 9,000 associates nationwide.
“Our hearts go out to people in communities across the Houston area who have been impacted by the severe flooding from Hurricane Harvey,” said Stuart Miller, CEO of Lennar, one of Houston’s largest home builders. “Lennar associates across the country are eager to help and we will match their contributions dollar-for-dollar above and beyond the initial $1 million donation. It’s our hope that this pledge will help alleviate the stress so many are feeling and help them return to the safety and comfort of their homes.”
United Way of Greater Houston established its Flood Relief Fund this week to help with the recovery needs of those most impacted by Hurricane Harvey. All monies raised by United Way’s Flood Relief Fund will be used to help with both immediate, basic needs and long-term recovery services such as case management and home repairs.
